Adele to miss out on Skyfall premiere after birth of baby son

She may have provided the vocal backdrop for the hottest movie in town, but "Skyfall" singer Adele won't be on the red carpet for the world premiere of the new Bond film in London tomorrow - she'll be curled up with her baby instead.

The "Rolling in the Deep" singer, 24, gave birth to her son on Friday night.

The Royal Albert Hall will tomorrow play host to 007 stars Daniel Craig, Judi Dench, Naomie Harris and Javier Bardem as well as Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall.

But Adele, whose soaring new single is the Skyfall theme tune, will not be there.

"Adele doesn’t want to leave her little boy’s side, it’s as simple as that. Right through her pregnancy she’s been practically a shut-in as she wanted to look after herself and the baby," an insider is quoted as saying in The Sun.

"Now he’s here, she can’t bear heading out without him, even to hobnob with royalty."

Despite entering the charts at number 2, three weeks ago, "Skyfall" has failed in its mission to top the charts for three weeks running.

New mum Adele teamed up with Paul Epworth, who co-wrote and produced her massive hit "Rolling In The Deep", for her new single which has drawn comparisons with Shirley Bassey.

Adele recorded the song at Abbey Road Studios with the backing of a 77-piece orchestra.

Previous Bond theme artists have all failed to take their songs to the top of the charts, including Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Tom Jones and Madonna, while Duran Duran made it to just number two in 1985 with "A View to a Kill".

"There's a lot of instant spotlight and pressure when it comes to a Bond song", the singer said last month.

"But I fell in love with the script. It was also a lot of fun writing to a brief, something I've never done, which made it exciting."

"I'll be back combing my hair when I'm 60 telling people I was a Bond girl back in the day, I'm sure!"
