Like us, you probably struggled to get tickets for Adele’s latest tour. Well, if you’re from the states it would have been even harder, as over 10 million people attempted to purchase tickets on their first day on sale.

According to a memo sent out to employees, Ticketmaster employees were told not to worry about negative reviews of the website.

"I know it must be frustrating to read or see in the news that we crashed during Adele’s onsale and that fans are upset with [Ticketmaster] because they couldn't get tickets," Ticketmaster president Jared Smith wrote [via Billboard].

"Unfortunately, when there is such a exceptional artist with unprecedented demand against short supply, there are inevitably going to be disappointed fans."

One of the most in-demand venues was New York's Madison Square Garden, with an estimated four million people attempting to buy one of the 100,000 available tickets.

All six shows sold out within an hour, leaving millions empty handed, yet staff were told the huge amounts pof traffic did not impair the site’s stability, with Smith adding: "Please know that your progress in the area of site stability and abuse prevention are making an indelible mark on our company’s position as the global leader in live entertainment."

Tickets for Adele’s concerts have been known to resell for huge amounts of money, but this year here team signed up with Songkick to stop resold tickets selling for hugely inflated prices.

In other Adele news, the songstress is set to perform once more at the Brit awards, having previously sung ‘Someone Like You’ in 2011.
