Beyoncé’s Lemonade album now available to stream on Spotify and Apple Music

Concept album arrives on streaming services three years after initial release

Beyoncé’s acclaimed concept album Lemonade has arrived on Spotify and Apple Music, exactly three years after its original release.

The album, released on this day on 2016, was a critical and commercial success boosted by the singles “Formation”, “Sorry” and “Hold Up”.

But until now, the only way to legally stream Lemonade was via Tidal, the company she owns with other artists including husband Jay-Z.

Spotify announced the news with a tweet this morning reading: “When Beyoncé gives you lemonade...”

The LP now contains a bonus track, a previously unheard demo of “Sorry”.

The 12-track album, which is said to reveal Jay-Z’s alleged infidelity, sparked rumours about the identity of the rapper’s mistress with the line: “You better call Becky with the good hair.”

Jay-Z appeared to admit having an affair on his 2017 album 4:44. Despite the controversy, the couple are still together and went on tour together last year for their On the Run II Tour.

They also released an album – Everything Is Love – under the name The Carters, their married name.

Last week Netflix released Homecoming, a two-hour documentary detailing Beyoncé’s headline set at Coachella festival last year, with an accompanying live album made available on streaming services.

Lemonade includes collaborations with artists including Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd, James Blake and Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig.

It was named the Best Urban Contemporary Album at the 2017 Grammys, but lost out to Adele’s 25 in the Album of the Year category, while lead single “Formation” was named Best Music Video.
