Bros star Matt Goss plans to become prime minister by time he is 60

The 51-year-old boyband member has announced his move from pop to politics

Bros star Matt Goss has announced plans to leave music behind to move into politics. The singer is hoping to become prime minister by the year 2028.

“I’m going to run for prime minister when I turn 60,” he told The Mirror from his home in Las Vegas, adding, that his plans are not a joke: “I am – I really am.”

The 51-year-old, who last year admitted to having a “few thoughts on Brexit”, has already been working on his manifesto.

Goss would like to reassure the current government that there is no “magic button” to help ease the country out of lockdown. But he did suggest they freeze all mortgages and rent payments to immediate effect.

“I promise conkers won’t be the first on my list,” he laughed. A reference to a moment in the 2018 Bros documentary After the Screaming Stops when the singer was seen passionately expressing his frustrations that conkers were deemed a health and safety risk.

In November, Goss unveiled plans that he will be releasing his own talk show. The news comes after Goss tried his hand at presenting with BBC4’s A Night in with Bros, which featured guests such as Mo Farrah, Frank Bruno and Katherine Ryan.

“I really enjoyed it,” he said. “I want to do a show that’s not about me. I want it to be good conversation, fun and emotional.

“There would be three individual guests but I don’t want my guests to share a couch.

“I think that being interviewed sometimes you feel like you don’t have enough time. I want to have a slightly deeper dive. Something that has a sexy vibe.”
