Daft Punk's Random Access Memories set to be fastest-selling album of 2013

The French duo have sold 104,000 copies in two days

Daft Punk’s new album Random Access Memories is on track to become the fastest-selling album of 2013.

The French duo have already sold 104,000 copies of their fourth studio album since it went on general release on Monday 20 May, according to the Official Charts Company.

The album has to sell 17,000 more copies to overtake the first week sales of the current bestselling album of 2013, Michael Buble’s To Be Loved.

Random Access Memories will overtake the second fastest selling album of the year, Justin Timberlake’s The 20/20 Experience, with just 1,000 more sales.

The album is currently number one in the mid-week Official Albums Chart, and looks likely to be crowned number one on Sunday despite competition from Rod Stewart’s Time and National’s Trouble Will Find Me.

Daft Punk returned to the music scene last month with their single “Get Lucky” after an eight year silence. The track has become the biggest selling single of 2013, having sold 650,000 copies in five weeks.

Random Access Memories has received four and five star reviews from the critics, with the Independent’s Elisa Bray dubbing it “the most thrilling album of the year”.
