Before he passed away, David Bowie approved an Instagram series that will accompany his final album (pronounced Blackstar).

The team behind InstaMiniSeries were granted an early listen to the late musician's 17th record so they could create their own "visual interpretations of his songs, with no limits or preconditions on his part."

Titled Unbound: A ★ InstaMiniSeries, Rolling Stone reports that the idea is for the 16 episodes to take the audience "on a journey of evocative images inspired by the moods suggested in the albums music, lyrics and artwork."

"Each episode of the series is sure to capture the imaginations of all who experience it and will undoubtedly lead to endless speculation and discussion of meaning, metaphor and intention."

You can watch the trailer below.

The series begins on 25 February with new episodes premiering on the Instagram channel every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

It is uncertain whether Bowie saw the finished product ahead of his death on 10 January.

At this year's Grammy Awards, Lady Gaga posted a tearful Instagram tribute video ahead of a performance which honoured the late musician.
