David Bowie may have plans for a world tour after his wife let slip in an interview that his family would not be able to join him on the road.

Supermodel Iman, who has been married to the star for 21 years, said in an interview with Grazia magazine: “We have a 12-year-old in school, so we are stuck, we can’t travel. Our schedule is around her, so I don’t know.

“We’ll have to go visit him, but we won’t be on tour with him because she’s in school.”

Bowie’s guitarist Gerry Leonard told Rolling Stone in February there was a “50-50” chance that the singer would return to the stage, after he commented that tracks on his new album The Next Day “would be great live”.

Bowie released his first single in a decade “Where Are We Now” on his 66th birthday in January. His absence from the music scene sparked rumours among fans that he was suffering ill health. The “Ziggy Stardust” singer last sang live in 2006, and he has not toured since the Reality Tour in 2003-2004.
