Contrary to the dozens upon dozens of reports stating that the Foo Fighters are splitting up, the Foo Fighters have announced they are definitely not splitting up.

Yesterday, we posted a debunker stating that a spokesperson had already said the reports were ‘utterly ridiculous’, and now the band has posted a video online poking fun at the speculation.

In the hilarious seven-minute clip, Dave Grohl attempts a solo career, hoping to modernise his sound by ditching the guitar for an electronic keyboard. Meanwhile, the other four Foos attempt to bring in a new singer as their old frontman has gone ‘fully Hollywood’.

“For the millionth time, we’re not breaking up,” reads the blunt message at the end. “And nobody’s going f*cking solo.”

Speculation started when PageSix posted a report stating the band were set to split up, rumours pointing to Grohl eyeing up a solo project. A spokesperson soon labelled it a hoax, yet numerous other publications still published the false rumours.

In 2015, the band released an EP titled St. Cecilia, along with a message from Grohl that hinted at leaving the project behind: “We could use a nice wander through the woods right about now. Another empty journal, another tap on the shoulder … those things are never far behind. It’s what lies ahead in those woods that excites me now….”

Later in the year, however, the ex-Nirvana drummer said they wouldn’t split as the group were like family: “It’s a family and it’s become a way of life with us. We love each other.”

Few. Thank the rock Gods for that. Foo Fighters were expected to announce something after they Tweeted a big announcement was coming, yet they didn’t announce anything other than they’re not breaking up. But, if they hadn’t said there was a big announcement, no-one would have thought they were breaking up. Perhaps something more to come?
