Glastonbury Festival 2016: Emily Eavis reveals how the festival will pay tribute to David Bowie

'We’re speaking to several members of his band who played here with him in 2000'

Glastonbury Festival’s line-up is looking very appealing now that acts such as LCD Soundsystem, Madness and Skepta are confirmed to be playing alongside headliners Coldplay, Adele and Muse.

Organiser Emily Eavis has also spoken about the many ways in which musicians will pay tribute to David Bowie who died earlier this year from cancer.

“We’re doing several tributes to David Bowie,” she announced on 6Music Breakfast (via The Evening Standard). “We’re in the middle of [planning] it at the moment. We’re speaking to several members of his band who played here with him in 2000 and everybody’s got lots of ideas.

“We’re trying to do something that is in keeping with him and us and his history here. So it’s not going to be a massive all-star tribute, but it’s going to be something really personal and something that will mean a lot to people here.”

While Eavis refused to reveal who would be performing the tribute, she added: “It will be something lovely. We’re also hoping to show some of his set across some of the screens on site, before the festival begins. So that will be on either Wednesday or Thursday, before the music starts.”

One rumour surrounding the festival is that Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees would be joining Coldplay on stage to perform a medley of his hits.

“I’m not sure if that is hot air tabloid rumour or if that’s going to be real,” she said of the rumour. “I don’t think any of the headliners are bringing guests. But there are lot of surprises across the site.”

Other acts confirmed to be appearing at the Worthy Farm bash include ZZ Top, Earth Wind & Fire, Disclosure, Grimes, Chvches and Foals. Full line-up here.
