Rap superstars Ice-T and Melle Mel have slammed the state of today's rap scene.
The hip-hop heavyweights were reunited at the European premiere of Ice-T's directorial debut, Something From Nothing: The Art Of Rap, at London's Hammersmith Apollo, where they made history with a once-in-a-lifetime performance on stage, which was broadcast live to more than 70 cinemas nationwide.
Ice-T, 54, said he was unimpressed with today's hip-hop artists, saying: "It's just pop. You're not going to get anything as raw as what we heard before." Grandmaster Flash And The Furious Five's Melle Mel (Melvin Glover) agreed, adding: "The younger guys don't look as good as us! They definitely don't have our skills and that's what the art of rap is."
