Nashville rockers Kings of Leon have been announced as the third headliner for the Isle of Wight Festival in June.

The Grammy-nominated quartet will perform an exclusive set to close the weekend after their sixth studio album Mechanical Bull reached number one in the UK Official Albums Chart last September.

Kings of Leon, known for hits such as "Sex on Fire", "Use Somebody" and "Supersoaker", will join Calvin Harris, Biffy Clyro and Super Bowl Half-Time Show performers Red Hot Chili Peppers at the top of the festival’s billing.

Other newly-confirmed acts include Scottish chart-toppers Travis, "Love Me Again" singer John Newman, Mercury Prize nominees The Horrors, LA duo Deap Vally and choral rock outfit The Polyphonic Spree

Four-piece girl group Neon Jungle will also be heading to the island, along with rising star Chloe Howl, MTV Brand New winners The Vamps, Celebrity Big Brother contestant and former N-Dubz rapper Dappy and dance act Rudimental.

"We're made up that we are making a trip back to the Isle of Wight, last time was a top gig," said Travis. "There's a lot of rock and roll history gone down on that little island and it's great to be a part of it again."

The Isle of Wight Festival takes place in Newport's Seaclose Park from 12 to 15 June.
