Lady Gaga makes awkward appearance on The Tonight Show

Lady Gaga has apologised to Jimmy Fallon after she abruptly ended their video interview last week.

The singer, who was due to appear on last Wednesday’s (1 April) episode of The Tonight Show: Home Edition to make an announcement, could be seen on a video call with Fallon saying: “I can’t Jimmy, I, er, I can’t talk right now. I’m really sorry, it’s just a really weird time…”

Gaga then stopped talking when she realised she was on television. When Fallon asked if he could call her back in 10 minutes, she asked if she could move the interview to Monday (6 April).

Fallon was visibly taken aback by the situation, and, laughing awkwardly, said: “Oh my heavens you are the busiest person.”

When Gaga eventually appeared on Monday’s show, she said: "I'm so sorry. We weren't quite ready yet, and I really appreciate you being so nice about it, and thank you. I love you, I love your viewers, and everyone at home watching. I just wish everybody well."

Fallon replied: "We love you all too and it turned out to be really kind of a fun bit for us and got a lot of people talking and a lot of people excited about what we're about to discuss tonight.”

Gaga finally announced her news, which is that she is putting on a benefit concert called One World: Together at Home.

The show will raise funds for healthcare workers during the global coronavirus epidemic when it kicks off on 18 April, and will feature performances by Billie Eilish, Lizzo, and Gaga herself, among others.
