Mark Ronson wrests number 1 spot back off X Factor rival

Ed Sheeran, meanwhile, is back on top of the albums charts with X

Mark Ronson’s “Uptown Funk” has reclaimed the top spot on this week’s Official Singles Chart.

The soul-funk track - which features Bruno Mars - claims a second non-consecutive week at Number 1 with combined chart sales of 187,000.

“Uptown Funk” first gained attention when it was covered by the X Factor runner-up Fleur East before Ronson had released it.

The single also breaks a new streaming record this week, having been streamed 2.49 million times in the last seven days, beating Ronson’s own record of 2.34 million set last week.

Last week’s Official Christmas Number 1, X Factor winner Ben Haenow, has slipped to Number 2 with “Something I Need”.

Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud” is holding firm in third place while Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space” climbs three places to Number 4.

Olly Murs and Demi Lovato’s duet “Up “completes the Top 5.

This week’s only new entry at Number 6 is Alesso’s “Heroes (We Could Be)”.

Meanwhile, Sheeran has made it to his twelfth non-consecutive week at the top of the albums chart with X.

With sales of 211,000, this is his second biggest one-week sales tally since the LP’s release back in June.

Holding firm at Number 2 is Sam Smith’s In The Lonely Hour, which OfficialCharts.com recently announced had sold over one million copies, and Olly Murs’ Never Been Better is at 3.

Completing the Top 5 are George Ezra’s Wanted On Voyage and Take That’s III.
