Mike Posner in hospital following rattlesnake bite in Colorado

US singer Mike Posner has been airlifted to hospital after being bitten by a rattlesnake.

The Grammy-nominated star, best known for hits “Cooler Than Me” and “I Took a Pill in Ibiza”, revealed the news on Instagram.

“Crazy day yesterday! I had just crushed 16 miles and was going for eight more when I got bit by a baby rattlesnake,” he wrote

He added: “That venom is no joke,” before posting a video showing him struggling to walk in the Colorado hospital.

He told his followers he was fortunate to be treated in time, but is said to have to stay in hospital for a few days and will not be able to walk for weeks.

Since April, Posner has been walking across America and releasing a new song in each state.

His original plan was to walk 20 miles a day, but he’s vowed to continue when he’s back on his feet.

His celebrity friends, including Joe Jonas and Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown, sent him well wishes on social media.

“Rest up bro. Glad you are OK,” Jonas wrote, with Brown adding: ”What!!! Get well soon, sending best wishes to you.”
