Miley Cyrus to perform at MTV EMAs despite VMAs controversy
MTV bosses must know what to expect from the 'Wrecking Ball' singer
After all of the controversy surrounding her VMA performance with Robin Thicke in August, it was inevitable that MTV would invite Miley Cyrus back to the stage once again.
But the "Wrecking Ball" singer won't have to wait until next year's ceremony. MTV has booked the singer to perform at the Europe Music Awards on 10 November in Amsterdam.
Miley Cyrus performed at the EMAs in 2010, but the music broadcaster will surely be hoping for something more akin to her "We Can't Stop"/"Blurred Lines" mash-up at the VMAs.
Her lascivious antics, involving twerking and a foam finger, caused a worldwide media storm. It prompted condemnation from – among many others – her friend Kelly Osbourne, her former Hannah Montana co-star Brooke Shields and even Prime Minister David Cameron.
But the controversy has resulted in chart success. Cyrus is currently number one on the UK's singles and albums charts, although her album is set to dive to number eight in Sunday's chart.
In the US, her Bangerz album reached number one on the Billboard 200 with sales of 270,000 copies.
Also performing at the EMAs are Katy Perry and The Killers, while LMFAO's RedFoo will host.
