Missy Elliott has dropped her first new track in almost a decade, delighting fans everywhere.

The song, ‘WTF’ (Where They From’) and featuring Pharrell Williams, was released by Atlantic Records on YouTube and instantly clocked up thousands of views as many celebrated the 44-year-old artist’s return.

Elliott, beloved for her numerous releases in the nineties, released her sixth album in 2005 but has been largely absent from the music scene since then.

Her appearance at this year’s Super Bowl – stealing Katy Perry’s headline performance as she performed a medley of favourite tracks ‘Get Ur Freak On,’ ‘Work It’ and ‘Lose Control’ – was seized on by some as hope for her return.

It was confirmed by an interview with Billboard in which she revealed she was recording her seventh studio album with Timberland.

Known for trailblazing into a traditionally male-dominated rap culture, Elliott has won six Grammys and numerous other accolades in the progression of her career.
