MTV VMAs 2014: Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj to perform live

Beyoncé, Maroon 5, Iggy Azalea and Rita Ora, all set to take the stage

Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj are the latest super pop-stars to be revealed as performers at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards.

For Swift, this will be the fourth time she has performed at the VMAs, and will join the A-List stars already announced for the show on 24 August, including Beyoncé, Iggy Azalea, Rita Ora, Maroon 5, Usher, 5 Seconds of Summer and Ariana Grande.

In the hours preceding the announcement, Nicki Minaj was also revealed as another high-profile act for the night, treating viewers to a performance of a track from her latest album The Pinkprint, called Anaconda.

Beyoncé, or “Queen Bey” to her fans, will be taking to the stage not only to perform, but to receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, which is presented to the musicians who have made an “incredible and long-lasting impact on pop culture”.

Iggy Azalea will be performing Black Widow alongside Rita Ora, while Maroon 5 will make their debut performance at the awards ceremony.

Nominations for the awards are being led by Beyoncé, who is in the running for becoming the second most awarded VMA winner of all time, while she is closely followed by Eminem and Iggy Azalea for the most nominations on the night. Twerker Miley Cyrus is also up for multiple awards, alongside Jay Z, Katy Perry, Lorde, Sam Smith, Avivii, Ariana Grande and Pitbull.
