Ozzy Osbourne cancels Ozzfiesta due to mystery surgery

Reasons behind the cancellation remain unclear with many fans hoping that the rocker is not seriously unwell

Ozzy Osbourne has cancelled a much-anticipated event after announcing a mystery surgery.

Ozzfiesta, planned for 27-31 May at the Hard rock Hotel in Riviera Maya, Mexico, but the event’s promoter released a statement on the website yesterday calling off the show.

Cool Breeze Records claimed in a statement that Osborne was undergoing surgery in May and would need “at least four weeks of recovery time”.

“Like you, we were very excited about the event,” the statement starts before apologising for the cancellation.

“However, Ozzy is having surgery, scheduled for May, following his South American tour. He requires at least four weeks of recovery time.

“We are very disappointed that we need to cancel,” the statement ends.

It remains unclear what surgery Osborne is undergoing, following his South American tour, that requires four weeks of recovery.

It is hoped that the announcement is not an indication of the aging rocker’s health – or a cover for poor sales, Ultimate Classic Rock notes.

The five-day fiesta included performances by the rocker as well as a comedy night, charity gold tournament and a dinner party hosted by Sharon Osbourne. It also would have set you back over a £1,000.

The company are offering refunds to those who no longer wish to travel to the resort.

Osborne is expected to be well enough to play in Makuhari Messe at Ozzfest in Japan on 22 November with Black Sabbath.

The gig is being widely touted as a farewell concert for the band and the group is reportedly at work on a follow-up to 2013’s 13 album, sad to be its last.
