Album: Dawes, Nothing is Wrong (Loose)
Though they come from the same place as their homophonic namesakes, LA's Dawes draw from a different musical well altogether.
Not for them the "motels, money, murder, madness" of their home town; instead Taylor Goldsmith will head to Laurel Canyon to write catchy songs with titles such as "Moon in the Water". It's as close to a perfect Americana album as there's been this year – fans of the California sound from CS&N to the Jayhawks will find much to love.
