Album: François and the Atlas Mountains, E Volo Love (Domino)
The first French act to sign to Domino, FATAM are a vehicle for the talents of one François Marry, a thirtysomething from Saintes near La Rochelle (via a spell in Bristol), and the palindromic E Volo Love is a roughly 50/50 Francophone/Anglophone album of gentle indie-pop jangle with echoes of Afropop, throughout which Marry sings in an appealingly weedy voice reminiscent of The Only Ones' Peter Perrett. One to listen to as the sun sets over la plage, your vintage bicycle lying beside you.
