I don't care how many times I'm told that Glee is a smart satire on High School Musical.
The end result is that the charts are now clogged with gruesome cover versions of pop hits by its prim, toothy cast. Journey's once-proud "Don't Stop Believin'" has already been damaged beyond repair, and other victims here include "Gold Digger" and "Somebody to Love". It's as musically satisfying as one of those Top of the Pops albums from the 1970s. The unedifying sight and sound of shiny happy people holding hands.
