A 40th-anniversary edition of the double album which focused minds everywhere on the existential meaning of “garage”, a 27-track hymn to the wild youth impelled to whang headstocks among the toolboxes and foot pumps of 1960s American suburbia.

The Electric Prunes, The Castaways, The Leaves .… Music has seldom since sounded so excitable or infused with such weird genius. Chiefly, though, they had fuzz boxes and they knew how to use ’em.
