Angels gather on rooftops and Victoria Square comes alive with acrobatics and dance in this free event, inspired by the Wim Wenders film.

The performance uses film projections to transform the newly restored Birmingham Town Hall, as dancers, circus artists and musicians tell a love story set between heaven and earth.

Part of the International Dance Festival Birmingham 2012, Wings of Desire promises to fill the square with music and spectacle, from the ground to the skyline.

The acrobatics come from the Australian circus company Circa, with Emma McGovern starring as Marion, the trapeze artist loved by an angel. They are joined by Britain's 2Faced Dance Company, a rising urban troupe, and the DJ and television star Goldie.

The arts and technology collective seeper use kaleidoscopic projections to highlight and change the architecture of the square. The family-friendly show is designed for all ages, and no booking is required.
