Yesterday, fans of Bill Turnbull et al were alarmed upon turning on their televisions to discover Bargain Hunt, while Today was switched for The Kitchen Cabinet. Of course, it was due to an NUJ strike.

With further action possible, here's a brief guide to keep informed without breaking the picket:

Today (Radio 4): Argue with your spouse over breakfast and ask a Vicar to offer a forced analogy about your choice of cereal.

Lauren Laverne (6 Music): Get a mate to talk over the first few seconds of every Richard Hawley song ever recorded.

Breakfast (BBC 1): Put Daybreak on mute, pretend the story about Dancing on Ice is actually Stephanie McGovern using ice-skating as an extended metaphor to explain the retail price index.

BBC News Channel: Stick a red piece of cardboard on your TV with "-lympics star Pistorius charged wi-" written on it.

Regional news (BBC 1): Buy a local paper and film yourself reading it out loud on your iPhone.
