Fresh Meat's Greg McHugh joins Kevin Guthrie in 'Two Doors Down'

Two Doors Down

9pm, BBC1

In Simon Carlyle’s nicely low-key comedy Arabella Weir and Taggart’s Alex Norton play a Scottish couple throwing a hogmanay party. Daniela Nardini, as a naughty auntie, Doon Mackichan, Fresh Meat’s Greg McHugh (as the son’s new boyfriend, above), and Sharon Rooney (My Mad Fat Diary) co-star.

Tudor Monastery Farm Christmas

9pm, BBC2

Ruth Goodman, Peter Ginn and Tom Pinfold examine the festive season as it would have been celebrated in 1500 under the reign of Henry VII, making Tudor decorations, engaging in festive revels and preparing feasting delights such as boar’s head and shred pies, which were forerunners of mince pies.

The Graham Norton Show

10.15pm, BBC1

A storming line-up that brings together the cast of Anchorman 2 – Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, Christina Applegate and David Koechner – Monty Python stars John Cleese, Michael Palin, Terry Jones, Eric Idle and Terry Gilliam, and sisters Joan and Jackie Collins. There’s also comedy from Frank Skinner and a song from the crooner Michael Bublé.

Jools’ Annual Hootenanny 2013

11.30pm, BBC2

Ray Davies, Lisa Stansfield, the Proclaimers, Melanie C, Laura Mvula, Haim, Rudimental and the Lumineers, Jamaican vocalist Dawn Penn, who teams up with Madness saxophonist Lee Thompson. And that’s just for starters. As usual, the most enjoyable televisual way to see in the new year.
