Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 6 Preview

Game of Thrones actor Isaac Hempstead Wright has criticised a petition calling on HBO to remake season eight.

More than a million people have signed the petition which criticises writers David Benioff and DB Weiss for their handling of several main characters this season.

"This series deserves a final season that makes sense," the petition, started by Dylan D, reads. "Subvert my expectations and make it happen, HBO!"

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Hempstead Wright called the petition "ridiculous" and said that the ending was "great".

"It’s just absurd. I can’t even fathom it. It’s just ridiculous," the actor said. "It’s ridiculous that people think they can just demand a different ending because they don’t like it. I have stupidly taken it quite personally, which obviously I shouldn’t."

Hempstead Wright also commented on the character Daenerys Targaryen's turn towards evil.

"People have complained there wasn’t enough foreshadowing but time upon time, she’s demonstrated a capacity to be quite brutal," he said.

The Independent‘s critic described the penultimate episode of Game of Thrones – titled “The Bells” – as being “out-of-tune” and criticised the episode’s writing, asking: “What is the logic here?”

Meanwhile, Varys actor Conleth Hill called his character’s demise “frustrating” and that the “last couple seasons weren’t my favourite”. Lena Headey has also spoken cautiously about her character’s death, revealing the reason why she initially felt “mixed” about the scene.
