30 Rock cast reunite for new scene welcoming Tracy Morgan back to SNL
'Does he have 100% mental capacity?’ The truth is, I never did.'
Tracy Morgan made a triumphant return to Saturday Night Live last night, following his recovery from a traumatic brain injury he suffered in a car crash that threatened to end his comedy and acting career.
Morgan was hugely thankfully for his health, but also made jokes about his accident, saying in his opening monologue:
“I was in a terrible car accident more than a year ago. It was awful, but it also showed me how much love and support I have in this world… People are wondering. ‘Can he speak? Does he have 100% mental capacity?’ The truth is, I never did. I might even be a few points higher.”
His 30 Rock co-stars Tina Fey (Liz Lemon), Alec Baldwin (Jack Donaghy), Jane Krakowski (Jenna Maroney) and Jack McBrayer (Kenneth Parcell) were delighted to have him back, embracing him on-set and starring in a sketch about an ‘unseen 30 Rock episode’ in which Tracy Jordan dies after trying to non-artificially inseminate his box jellyfish.
Fey later said: “We’re so happy that you’re OK, but we’re even happier that you’re ready to make people laugh again.”
