An 82-year-old man sung Drowning Pool 'Bodies' on America's Got Talent

Octogenarian retired space engineer John Hetlinger’s sweet demeanour belied a cold, black heart of metal on America’s Got Talent this week, which he tore the roof off of with a cover of Drowning Pool’s seminal nu-metal banger ‘Bodies’.

“I retired about 15 years ago, about the time I started doing karaoke,” he told judge Simon Cowell, noting that in his most recent project he was “blessed to be the program manager for the instrument that repaired the Hubble space telescope.”

John’s intro provoked applause and "awh"s from the audience, who presumably expected him to croon out a show tune.

But no, Hetlinger was there to f*ck sh*t up, promptly singing:

‘Let the bodies hit the floor / Let the bodies hit the floor / Let the bodies hit the floor / Let the bodies hit the… FLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOR!’

The Facebook video of his audition, which has attracted 3.2m views in under 24 hours, doesn’t show whether or not he made it through to the next round, but frankly he deserves to win the competition no matter what dancing dogs or body-popping dance troupes show up.

Drowning Pool have already responded, writing on social media: "Shout out to the 82 year old dude that sang 'Bodies' on America's Got Talent. You are welcome to join us on stage anytime !!!"
