Donald Glover is best known for his comedy work in TV and film - writing episodes of 30 Rock and starring in Community - but he’s been switching toward drama lately.

He gave a very good performance in a very okay film with The Martian, and his next project is FX series Atlanta.

It is described thus:

“Starring and created by Donald Glover, Atlanta revolves around two cousins on their way up through the Atlanta rap scene whose opposing views on art versus commerce, success and race will make their quest anything but easy.”

Atlanta of course has a rich hip-hop history, birthing Outkast and more recently being the epicentre of trap music.

The trailer sees a somnolent Glover lazing on couches, bunk beds and hammocks in the city, though interestingly he chose a song by Australian musician Flume to backlight it.

Glover was raised just outside of the ATL in Stone Mountain, Georgia, the state’s influence on him being something he frequently discusses in his own hip-hop output under the alias Childish Gambino.
