Channel 4's 'The IT Crowd' and 'Southcliffe' lead the nominations

Channel 4's Southcliffe and The IT Crowd have notched up the most nominations ahead of the Bafta TV awards, leading with four nods each.

Hit miniseries Southcliffe's Sean Harris and Rory Kinnear are up for Leading Actor and Supporting Actor respectively, while The IT Crowd's Richard Ayoade and Chis O'Dowd are nominated for Male Performance in a Comedy Programme.

Popular ITV show Broadchurch has three nominations, for Drama Series, Leading Actress (Olivia Colman, who played DS Ellie Miller) and Supporting Actor (David Bradley, who played Jack Marshall).

Peter Moffat's BBC series The Village also earned three nods, with other notable nominees including My Mad Fat Diary, Top of the Lake, Ripper Street and the Doctor Who anniversary special, An Adventure in Space and Time.

Sarah Lancashire and Nicola Walker are nominated for Last Tango in Halifax, while Dominic West and Helena Bonham Carter are in the race for their roles in Burton and Taylor.

The International category includes Breaking Bad, House of Cards, Borgen and The Returned.

Channel 4 has received its most Bafta nominations to date.
