The electric Proms is to be axed because of cuts to the BBC's budget, the Corporation has confirmed.
Last year's series of concerts, the fifth, featured performances by Sir Elton John, Neil Diamond and Plan B. But the BBC has been forced to cancel the 2011 event as it tries to deal with drastic cuts to its budget.
BBC Radio 2 controller Bob Shennan said he was "disappointed" the shows had come to an end. The Electric Proms had also included performances by Kasabian, Sir Paul McCartney and others.
