BBC’s GTA movie The Gamechangers was ‘random, made up bollocks’, says Rockstar
The BBC didn't consult Rockstar on the film
The BBC’s TV film The Gamechangers was broadcast last night, and the Grand Theft Auto developers it depicted weren’t too happy with it’s version of events.
“@BBC Was Basil Brush busy? What exactly is this random, made up bollocks?” Rockstar Games said through its Twitter account, which has almost 6 million followers.
The one-off drama saw Daniel Radcliffe play Rockstar producer Sam Houser, during the developer’s legal battles in 2002 over the GTA series’ San Andreas title.
The Gamechangers had a rough ride on Twitter, with viewers and gaming afficionados blasting it for its unrealistic tech talk and inaccurate portrayal of coding.
It doesn’t come as a surprise that Rockstar didn’t enjoy the film, given that it previously tried to sue the BBC because it was in no way consulted over the project.
“@BBC This new Rentaghost isn’t as good as I remember,” Rockstar also tweeted last night, likening the film to a children’s TV comedy.
