Benedict Cumberbatch has been named best actor for his starring role in Sherlock at the TV Choice Awards.
The actor, who was recently tipped for an Oscar nomination for his portrayal of Alan Turing in new film The Imitation Game , beat David Tennant, Allen Leech and Bradley Walsh to take home the award for the second year running.
Sherlock also won best drama series at the awards, following its success at last month’s Emmys .
Cumberbatch was not present at the awards, but his mother Wanda Ventham, who starred briefly in the show’s last series, and Sherlock star Amanda Abbington were present as the producers and cast accepted the award from Michelle Kegan.

Elsewhere, Game of Thrones won best international show, Educating Yorkshire won best factual entertainment show and EastEnders won best soap, with the cast collecting their gong from Mary Berry.
