Big Bang Theory renewed for three more series, Kaley Cuoco, Jim Parsons and co set to return
Dr Sheldon Cooper and his gang of geeky friends will be back until 2017
Popular US sitcom The Big Bang Theory will run for another three series, the show’s network has confirmed.
Dr Sheldon Cooper, played by Emmy Award-winning Jim Parsons, is set to remain on screens with his geeky science-loving friends for the next three years at least.
The most recent, seventh season attracted close to 20 million US viewers and has enjoyed success in the UK on Channel 4 and E4.
The Big Bang Theory’s lead cast members – Parsons, Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting, Johnny Galecki, Melissa Rauch and more – are undergoing negotiations to renew their contracts with Warner Bros TV, Variety reports.
"Comedy is a big part of our schedule and The Big Bang Theory is the biggest comedy force on television," said Nina Tassler, chair of CBS Entertainment.
"We’re proud to work with and showcase the incredible talents of Chuck Lorre, Steve Molaro and this amazing cast every week."
Co-creator Chuck Lorre's other hit comedy, Two and a Half Men, starring Ashton Kutcher in Charlie Sheen's former role, is expected to be extended, as are his other shows Mike and Molly and Mom.
