The Blacklist season 4 release date US and UK: NBC renews drama

The Blacklist creator Jon Bodenkamp has revealed that the show has been renewed by NBC for a fourth season.

Bodenkamp confirmed on the Blacklist: Exposed podcast that the decision was made months ago.

The show’s ratings slipped slightly in its move from Mondays to Thursdays for season 3, but it remains one of NBC’s strongest performers once catch-up viewers are taken into account.

The Blacklist’s last three seasons have commenced on 23 September, 22 September and 1 October, so we can expect something similar for the fourth in the US.

As for the UK, the show generally premieres on Sky Living at the end of October, and a spokesperson confirmed to us that they will definitely be showing the season.

The Blacklist stars James Spader as Raymond "Red" Reddington, a former United States Navy officer turned high-profile criminal, who voluntarily surrenders to the FBI after evading capture for decades.

He provides the FBI with a list of the most dangerous criminals in the world that he has compiled over the years and is willing to guide their operations in exchange for immunity from prosecution, but insists on working with rookie FBI agent Elizabeth Keen (played by Megan Boone).

The show has consistently received solid reviews, Spader’s performance in particular having been praised.
