The Hallmark Channel has come up with a bizarre solution to try and cheer people up while self-isolating during the coronavirus pandemic.

The US TV network, which is known for its mawkish straight-to-TV original films, has announced that they will be hosting a Christmas movie marathon this coming weekend.

“You asked and we heard you”, the company wrote from its official Twitter account. “We agree that we all need a little Christmas now.”

“Starting Friday at 12pm/11c we will air a Christmas movie marathon all weekend long only on Hallmark Channel”.

The films scheduled for broadcast include such wintery gems as Pride, Prejudice & Mistletoe, Christmas in Evergreen: Tidings of Joy, and A Shoe Addict’s Christmas.

That’s not the only festive news we have had recently. BBC series Call the Midwife recently announced it had suspended filming its upcoming Christmas special because of coronavirus concerns.

You can find some other and more seasonally appropriate recommendations for what to watch while self-isolating here.
