Critics' Choice Awards 2014: Orange is the New Black, Breaking Bad and Fargo win big

Netflix original Orange is the New Black was among the big winners at the Critics’ Choice TV Awards in Los Angeles last night.

The US prison comedy won Best Comedy Series, with Kate Mulgrew and Uzo Aduba picking up the Supporting Actress in a Comedy and Guest Performer in a Comedy gongs.

The second season of the hit show dropped on Netflix earlier this month to rave reviews.

Elsewhere, Aaron Paul won Best Supporting Actor in a Drama for his role as Jesse Pinkman in Breaking Bad, while the crime drama was also awarded Best Drama Series.

Lead actor Bryan Cranston, who played chemistry teacher turned meth manufacturer Walter White, lost out to True Detective’s Matthew McConaughey for the Best Actor in a Drama Series accolade.

The TV remake of the Coen brothers’ Fargo took home the Miniseries award while Billy Bob Thornton won Lead Actor in a Movie/Miniseries.

Other winners included Orphan Black’s Tatiana Maslany for Best Actress in a Drama Series; Normal Heart for Best Movie; The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon for Best Talk Show; The Big Bang Theory’s Jim Parsons for Best Lead Actor in a Comedy Series; and Scandal’s Bellamy Young for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.
