The Crown: Netflix is making a TV series about The Queen and the tag line is hilariously Game of Thrones-esque

You come at the Queen, you best not miss.

Netflix’s next original series will be the first to shoot in the UK and centre on the reign of Queen Elizabeth II.

Perhaps designed for a US audience, The Crown has the wonderfully epic tag line:

‘Two houses, two courts, one crown.’

Netflix is ploughing £100 million into the series, according to The Telegraph, making it the streaming service’s most expensive show yet.

Peter Morgan, who wrote Oscar-winner The Queen will be at the helm of the show, which is being directed by Stephen Daldry (Billy Elliot).

The Crown is billed as “the inside story of two of the most famous addresses in the world – Buckingham Palace and 10 Downing Street – and the intrigues, love lives and machinations behind the great events that shaped the second half of the 20th century.”

It will arrive in 2016, follow the Queen’s life story in 60 episodes over six seasons from her wedding day in 1947 until today, and star Claire Foy, who previously played Anne Boleyn in Wolf Hall.

I hope it can live up to its dramatic tag line, after all, when you play the Game of Crowns, you win or you live comfortably in a country retreat.
