Only Fools and Horses dodgy dealers Del Boy and Rodney Trotter are about to make a reappearance in a charity special of the sitcom, the BBC has announced.

The infamous duo will return to our screens for the first time in a decade as part of a sketch for Sport Relief in March. Del Boy, played by actor David Jason and Rodney, played by Nicholas Lyndhurst, have been absent from British television since the 2003 Christmas special Sleepless in Peckham.

Details of the plot have not yet been released, but a spokesperson for the BBC said: "There are plans afoot for a short Only Fools and Horses sketch for Sport Relief.

"Further details will be announced in the build-up to the appeal night on 21 March."

The show was created by John Sullivan, who died aged 64 in 2011, and went on to be one of the most successful comedies made since the first episode was aired in 1981.

The show ran as a regular series until 1991, before it was aired in sporadic specials. The 1996 Christmas episode Time on Our Hands broke viewing records for British sitcoms when it was watched by 24.3 million people.
