Peter Capaldi to attend London premiere of Doctor Who series 8

The cast and crew will be answering questions from fans after the screening

Doctor Who fans will get a chance to see the new Time Lord at the London premiere of 'Deep Breath' next month.

Peter Capaldi will be attending a screening of the first episode from the forthcoming series at the British Film Institute on the South Bank. The cast and crew will also be involved in a Q&A session afterwards.

The screening will be held on the 7 August and due to overwhelming demand tickets are being allocated by ballot.

Earlier in the day a showing of the feature-length ‘Deep Breath’ will be held for fans in the home of Doctor Who in Cardiff.

But some fans may already have seen footage from ‘Deep Breath’ after it was revealed that a rough cut of the episode was leaked online, along with five scripts from series eight and other BBC documents.

According to those who have seen the unedited version, it is in black-and-white with watermarks on it and has special effects missing.

YouTube user Darren Lock said that: “Capaldi nails it first, he’s dangerous and I like that. There’s a bit of the old [Christopher] Eccleston Doctor in there. There’s a bit of darkness, a bit of dangerousness.”

But he added that the makers “over-do the Doctor post-regeneration crisis confusion.”

‘Deep Breath’ has a running time of 80 minutes and Lock said that the episode could have been cut back.

Another commenter Jrice73 said: “It was fantastic. And Capaldi was the bees knees.”

UKCZ also praised the episode, saying that, “The episode was pretty darn awesome. The interaction between Clara and 12 was amazing.”

PJ Dominicis of Examiner.com said, “This is an incredibly funny script. Not just witty, but downright sidesplitting hilarious,” going on to say that Capaldi as the Doctor “felt right”.

However, some were less impressed, blogger Eric E. Durnan said, "I am not a fan of “regeneration jitters” like some people are. I rather preferred the approach taken with [Patrick] Troughton and [Jon] Pertwee after regeneration."

Meanwhile, Serton commented on a forum thread, "Just finished watching it. The script made me laugh and get excited. But I thought it was a bit average."

‘Deep Breath’ will be broadcast on Saturday 23 August on BBC1.

The Doctor Who screening comes ahead of the BFI’s new programme Sci-Fi: Days of Fear and Wonder, which will showcase some of the best science fiction films made, including classics like Blade Runner, 2001: A Space Odyssey and Alien.

Fans of The Hunger Games will be given a chance to see exclusive footage from the new film Mockingjay before it is released in cinemas in November.

‘Sci-Fi: Days of Fear and Wonder’ will run from October 2014 – December 2015
