Drag Race Down Under: Taika Waititi and Kylie Minogue join spin-off as guest judges

Australia and New Zealand spin-off comes to BBC Three in May

Taika Waititi and Kylie Minogue have been announced as the first guest judges on RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under.

Series one of the reality TV series’s Australia and New Zealand spin-off filmed in NZ earlier this year, with both RuPaul and Michelle Visage featuring.

Among the guest judges joining them on the panel will be pop icon Minogue, while her sister Dannii Minogue will also make an appearance on the show’s Untucked segment.

Thor: Ragnarok director Waititi is also set to judge the queens.

Minogue said: “I’m SO excited to finally be a part of RuPaul’s Drag Race for the first series Down Under. It’s such an iconic show and I can’t wait to watch the contestants perform their hearts out to win the title of Down Under’s first Drag Superstar!’”

Drag Race Down Under begins on 1 May in Australia and New Zealand, with 10 queens competing to take home the crown.

The contestants are Anita Wigl’it, Art Simone, Coco Jumbo, Elektra Shock, Etcetera Etcetera, Jojo Zaho, Karen from Finance, Kita Mean, Maxi Shield and Scarlet Adams.

Following the success of international versions RuPaul’s Drag Race UK and Drag Race Canada on BBC Three, Down Under will air on BBC iPlayer again in line with the show’s broadcast in Australia and New Zealand.

RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under begins Sunday 2 May at 9am on BBC iPlayer.
