Fresh Meat may follow in the steps of sister comedy The Inbetweeners and be made into a film, according to co-creator Sam Bain.

But will JP, Oregon, Josie, Vod, Kingsley and Howard take to a party-fuelled holiday in Crete? It hangs in the balance according to Bain.

“The Inbetweeners and In the Loop are good examples of characters going on holiday, so that is one option we’re looking at.

"But we don’t want to feel like they’ve stopped being characters from Fresh Meat so it’s a difficult balance to get right,” he said at an industry event earlier this week.

“The challenge with a film- and we’re wrestling with this at the moment so we don’t have any answers- is that you want to be bigger but you also don’t want to destroy the essence of the show you’ve created.”

Bain, who came up with the idea for Fresh Meat with his Peep Show co-writer Jesse Armstrong, said that he was thinking about a film based on Peep Show, but added that a Fresh Meat movie was more likely to happen first.

A spin off-series following the female housemates after graduation is also planned, according to film industry magazine Screen Daily.

Series three of Fresh Meat, which stars Jack Whitehall, Zawe Ashton, Greg McHugh, Kimberley Nixon, Charlotte Ritchie and Joe Thomas as a group of Manchester university students living together in a house share, is currently in production.
