Sue Perkins is swapping the 'soggy bottoms' of The Great British Bake Off for Jon Snow and the world of Westeros.

The TV presenter is set to host a new version of Game of Thrones spin-off show Thronecast when it returns to Sky Atlantic for season five in April.

Perkins will discuss the latest plot twists and turns in front of a live studio audience directly after each new episode of the hit fantasy drama.

Thronecast will launch after the season five premiere on Monday 13 April (the night after it airs state-side on HBO) with an hour-long special before continuing with 30-minute episodes.

Cast and crew members will join Perkins each week along with celebrity fans of the series, which is based on George RR Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire novels.

Thrones expert Jamie East will return with special reports and sneak peeks into upcoming episodes, as well as sharing behind-the-scenes footage.

Martin dropped a bombshell on Thrones fans last weekend, warning them to "be on their toes" and expect some big shocks.

“People are going to die who don’t die in the books, so even the book readers will be unhappy,” he said at the Writers Guild West Awards on Saturday.

“Everybody better be on their toes. [Showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss] are even bloodier than I am.”

Sansa Stark actress Sophie Turner has already told fans to expect a “traumatic” season five.

“There’s some massive moments, perhaps even more shocking than the Red Wedding type of thing,” she told The Huffington Post. “There’s a lot going on this season. There’s also, you know, a lot of blood, a lot of death.”
