Stephen Colbert parodies Game of Thrones with 'Shame of Thrones'

Following the release of the first full trailer for Game of Thrones season 8, the final outing for the HBO show, Stephen Colbert decided to air his own parody.

The cold open to his show, CBS's The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, introduced a trailer for "Shame of Thrones", which saw a very different kind of winter headed its way towards Donald Trump and his associates.

“They’re coming — 81 document requests in the expanding Trump probe,” the trailer's voiceover says.

“A daring attack launched by house DEMs! This spring, brace yourself: Subpoenas are coming. ‘Shame of Thrones.’ The final season?”

The parody comes after news that a House of Representatives panel led by Democrats have sent document requests to 81 individuals and organisations associated with Trump, marking the biggest move Congress yet in the investigation into the president's alleged wrongdoing.

The eighth and final season of Game of Thrones, meanwhile, reaches HBO and Sky Atlantic on 14 April. Read everything we know about the final season here.
