People are feeling very anxious over the new series of Great British Bake Off. Will the show moving to Channel 4 from BBC lose that charm?

One of the main questions regards Noel Fielding: can the Mighty Boosh actor — a rather bizarre choice to replace Mel an Sue — prove everyone wrong?

The moment the newcomer began speaking, Twitter users were posting their hot takes, many talking about Noel's voice.

Sure, Noel may sound a tad like someone presenting Jackanory, but many viewers were impressed by his performance.

Of course, there were those who decided Noel wasn’t right for Bake Off.

And those who decided to constantly mention the ex-presenters (Mary Berry's name was trending above everyone else's).

Overall, the newbies Prue Leith, Sandi Toksvig and Noel managed to win over most of the critics, who reviewed the episode fairly positively.

Meanwhile, you can catch everything that happened in the episode with our live-blog. Bake Off airs every Tuesday on Channel 4 at 8pm.
