I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! will air in 2020 in spite of the coronavirus pandemic.

The celebrity competition series, which traditionally films in Australia in the autumn, will return for its 20th season this year, ITV confirmed on Thursday (30 July).

It had previously not been known whether the Ant and Dec-fronted series would go ahead due to Covid-19, with reports suggesting that the show could be filmed in Scotland to prevent the cast and crew needing to travel by plane.

ITV will also be marking the 20th season with a documentary titled I’m A Celebrity: A Jungle Story looking at the show’s history since it began in 2002.

Hosted by Ant and Dec, I’m A Celebrity sees famous figures camp out in the middle of the “jungle” and complete a series of often difficult and disgusting challenges.

Its 19th series, which aired last year, featured celebrities including footballer Ian Wright, reality star Caitlyn Jenner, and Good Morning Britain co-presenter Kate Garraway, and was won by Jacqueline Jossa.

The news of the show’s return will be a relief for ITV, which was forced to cancel one of its other biggest shows, Love Island, due to the pandemic. The dating series will also not return for a winter series in 2021.
