The Jump looks set to be axed after season 3 final

The 12 celebrities taking part in The Jump, some of whom have already had to leave the contest (Channel 4)

This series of The Jump has proven particularly controversial in thanks to the numerous celebrities having been whisked home after injuring themselves on the show.

But it wasn’t the calls to drop the show that have led to Channel 4 reportedly ‘axing’ the show. According to The Sun, the “viewer ratings have fallen over a massive cliff” leading to the broadcaster cancelling the show.

“The show is just not pulling in the viewing figures to justify the huge amount being spent on it,” a source told the tabloid.

However, a spokesperson told The Independent that “The Jump has been hugely successful, averaging over two million viewers across this series and last Sunday it helped Channel 4 to be the most watched commercial channel across the whole day.”

They continued by saying “It is categorically untrue to suggest the show has been axed," yet added that no decision to re-commission the show had been made either. Perhaps they are just going to let the show fall off people’s radars before announcing it won’t be renewed?

Calls to cancel the show have been growing by the week as Beth Tweddle, Rebecca Adlington and Tina Hobley have all sustained injuries on the show, leading to them leaving the competition.

This series of The Jump will come to an end tonight as Ben Cohen, Tamara Beckwith, Sid Owen and Dean Cain all Ski it out to be crowned champion.
