Kate Moss to guest star in new BBC Christmas comedy from David Walliams

Jennifer Saunders and James Buckley will also appear in The Boy in the Dress

Kate Moss is set to star as herself in David Walliams' upcoming BBC One Christmas comedy, The Boy in the Dress.

The 40-year-old supermodel will make a cameo appearance in the adaptation, about how 12-year-old Dennis' family and friends react to his foray into cross-dressing.

Based on Walliams' 2008 book of the same name, The Boy in the Dress follows the comedian's success with previous festive comedies Gangsta Granny and Mr Stink.

Newcomer Billy Kennedy will take the lead in his TV debut, while Jennifer Saunders, Meera Syal, Tim McInnerny, Felicity Montagu and The Inbetweeners' James Buckley have also been cast.

Walliams, known for Little Britain, will feature as himself in the one-hour special. He tweeted a photo of a clapperboard from the first day of shooting in London earlier this week.

"We have put together a dream cast for this, the first of my children's books, and for many still my best," he said.

"It is a funny and poignant story about what it is to be different. I hope it will make everyone who sees it, young and old, stop and think."

Moss has starred on screen with Walliams before for a 2013 Comic Relief special. Last Friday, she took part in a Gogglebox celebrity special with Naomi Campbell and Noel Gallagher for Channel 4's Stand Up to Cancer fundraiser.
