Making a Murderer has become something of a cultural phenomenon. The Netflix documentary has gripped America unlike anything in recent memory, making viewers question the legal system that his been in place all of their lives.

As anyone who has seen the show will conclude, Steven Avery’s story is far from over, the man still sitting in jail while many believe the trial was not fair or accurate.

Creators of the show, Moira Demos and Laura Ricciardi, have since revealed that they have been gathering evidence to possible put together for a second series.

“I think today marks four weeks since the series launched and what we’ve managed to do in the past four weeks is have several phone calls with Steven Avery which we have recorded with an eye toward including them in future episodes,” Ricciardi said at the Television Critics Association press tour (via IGN). “We have not returned to Wisconsin in the past four weeks.”

“As we said before, in relation to this story, this story is ongoing, these cases are open," said Demos. "It’s real-life so you don’t know what’s going to happen. We are ready… if there are significant developments, we will be there. And we are looking at other stories, as well.”

The pair did conclude, however, that “significant developments” would need to occur for production to get underway.

At the same event, Netlfix chief content editor Ted Serandos also said a second season was something they were looking at making, adding: "the story is still unfolding, so we'll certainly take a look at it”.

The filmmakers also left out numerous bits of evidence - including extra DNA evidence - all of which you can read about here.
