Making a Murderer season 2 trailer: Netflix documentary following Steven Avery's case returns

Part two will prominently feature Avery's attorney Kathleen Zellner as she attempts to overturn his conviction

Three years ago, Steven Avery – the salvage yard worker convicted of murdering Teresa Halbach ​– became an internationally recognised name thanks to Making a Murderer.

Everyone who watched the acclaimed Netflix series had an opinion on Avery’s case, some people finding believing him to be guilty, others being swayed by the series.

Since then, the case has moved on. Attorney Kathleen Zellner has begun representing Avery, hoping to overturn the conviction. Brendan Dasey, who was also convicted, was almost freed before his appeal was overturned.

Making a Murderer’s second season will document the new finding, and the first trailer has just been released, offering the world a first look at filmmakers Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos latest work.

Ten new episodes – which reach Netflix on Friday 19 October 2018 – will feature exclusive access to Avery, Dassey and their legal teams as they fight for justice against a corrupt system.

Part two will specifically focus on the post-conviction process, delving into the emotional toll the verdicts has taken on their respective families including Brendan’s mother, Barb.

“Steven and Brendan, their families and their legal and investigative teams have once again graciously granted us access, giving us a window into the complex web of American criminal justice,” said Ricciardi and Demos.

“Building on Part 1, which documented the experience of the accused, in Part 2, we have chronicled the experience of the convicted and imprisoned, two men each serving life sentences for crimes they maintain they did not commit. We are thrilled to be able to share this new phase of the journey with viewers.”

Making a Murderer Part 2 will be available to stream on Netflix globally on 19 October.
